An avant-garde jazz ensemble that grew out of the thriving musical voices in Lagos, Nigeria. The ensemble features some of Lagos’ finest artists, singers and instrumentalists who combined, explore soul, jazz and their African connections. They are recognised for their integration of musical styles creating a synergy between contemporary, traditional, classical and African influences spanning the entire history of jazz through their multi-instrumentalism. Art Ensemble of Lagos features the legendary soul vocalist, Age Beeka, traditional griot, Hammay Saho and the young jazz vocalist, Deborah Olufa.
