Alieu Suso was one of the foremost Kora-makers who made instruments for all the legendary kora players of the old generation including Amadu Bansang Jobarteh, Jali Nyama Suso and Alhagie Bai Konteh.

Alieu Suso was born the upper region of The Gambia but settled in Bakau where he set up and established his instrument shop selling a wide range of traditional West African instruments.

He could often be seen making koras outside his shop in the busy market place and international musicians from all around the world would drop in whenever they were in The Gambia. He was a highly regarded figure in the community, not only as an instrument maker and his reputation as the leading Kora Maker in the whole of West Africa spread over the years.
