New Worlds: Visions of a traveller follows the journey of two legendary travellers, from two very different epocs of history; DH Lawrence in Mexico and Ibn Battuta in medieval Africa. Weaving the narratives of these two travellers with multi-media visuals, the show is a meeting of worlds, a journey through time from the Pre-Columbian music of South America to the medieval Malian Royal Court music of the griots and the kora.
New Worlds: Visions of a traveller features the music of composer, cellist and Kora player, Tunde Jegede, Mexican guitarist, percussionist and multi-instrumentatlist, Rafael Guel with live performance, archival imagery, text and poetry by the visual artist, Sunara Begum.
